ENOUGH!

I have had my heart set on a new tablet and for months now, day in day out, I spent time online checking them out.  I wanted just the right one for me and at the best price of course! So I set out to find it, checking site after site and tablet after tablet.

At last, I found the one I wanted but the cost was too much.  I figured that it would be better on Black Friday or Cyber Monday.  I kept checking all last week and on Cyber Monday, yesterday, finally, there it was, fifty dollars less than all the other sale prices!

I looked at it again and again but just couldn’t click on the order tab.  I discussed it with my husband and my daughter but I still did not have a peace about getting it.  I continued to pray about it but no peace came, only more questions.

Could that money be put to better use?  The missionary speaker was talking on Sunday about those in other countries who have so little and some have never heard the Gospel.

Could I give more Lottie Moon Offering so more missionaries could go and share God’s love?

What are my priorities this Christmas season – – getting or giving?

Is it a need or a want? Well that answer came pretty quick since I already have a Nook AND older tablet!

Why was I being so greedy; wanting more and better when what I had was enough?

The hard part in all this is not that I will not get the beautiful new tablet with all the bells and whistles, but that it took me so long to see the greed in my own life and the lack of priorities — the desire for more and better when what I have is more than enough.

There’s that word again, ENOUGH!  What does it mean?  I think it means God has blessed me by meeting all my needs and many of my desires. I need to learn to be content with what I have and be thankful for all I have been given.

Hebrews 13:5  Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”

God is enough!

Thoughts

I was just deleting pictures on my phone.  Some were blurry, some were duplicates, some off center and some just badly taken pictures.  So easy to just push the button and delete and they are gone just like that, never to return.

Life isn’t like that.  We make decisions and there is no delete button to undo them or make them gone.  Every thought, decision or action has a consequence.  One thing leads to another.  A thought becomes an attitude and an attitude becomes an action, an action becomes a habit and a habit becomes a stronghold! Good or bad, positive or negative, right or wrong.

Everything begins with a thought!

Proverbs 4:23  Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts.       Good News Translation

Proverbs 4:23  Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.        New Living Translation

What a day!

What a day!

A restful morning

A fun shopping trip with my daughter in the afternoon

A  happy  time playtime with my great-grandson in the evening

A tearful goodbye with my granddaughter as we parted tonight

And through it all, in the joy and in the tears, God was there.  He knows, He understands and He cares.

Psalm 28:7

The Lord is my strength and shield.  I trust Him  with all my heart.  He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy.  I burst out in songs of thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving

Psalm 136:1 Give thanks to the Lord for He is good.  His faithful love endures forever.

It is the wee hours of Thanksgiving morning.  What’s on your mind?  What’s your focus?  Food preparation, sales ads, company coming, weather, missing loved ones, relationships – good ones, hard ones, broken ones?

Today my hope is to be focused on God and His constant provision and to give him thanks in all things and for all things that come into my life.  I will be thankful to God for the precious memories I have of the past.  I will be thankful for the many blessings of this present day and I will thank the Lord for the hope of heaven to come!  I will not live dwelling on the past or anxiously awaiting the future but I will live in the present, thanking God for what I have right now, for where I am right now and for the way things are right now.  After all, right now is all I have.  The past is gone and the future isn’t here yet.

Be thankful and live in the present.  God’s Presence is always in the present and where God is there is love, joy, peace and hope!

Love to all, Lyn

Whispering Hope

This Blog, whisperinghope4rightnow, was born out of a desire to give hope and encouragement to my children and grandchildren, family and friends and to all those God leads to this blog.

Many things happen daily in the small world of those we love and know. .  Sometimes the big world impacts us and sometimes we impact each other.  There are always needs and concerns, joys and happiness; so much to enjoy, to learn and to work through  in this maze of life.   We wonder about which way to go, what is the right and best decision, why did this or that happen or what do I do now,… the questions are endless but the answers are all in THE BOOK.

May God bless this blog as we look at His Word and explore His promises.  I pray whispers of hope will encourage you right now in whatever you are facing.

Grace and Peace to all.   Lyn
